Course Overview

The increasing use of multi-disciplinary teams to manage business change and improvements depends upon the availability of project leaders who are both experienced in managing cross-functional projects and skilled in the art of team leadership. This 2-day workshop provides the opportunity to review best practice and to develop the skills required to lead a project team.

Audience

This workshop enables everyone who is required to work as a project leader to improve their knowledge and develop their skills. It will benefit project leaders with some experience, as well as those people who are new to the role. Advanced level course - for those wishing to develop existing skills/knowledge to a more advanced level.

Delivering the results

Creating a realistic team plan

  • work breakdown structures
  • critical path planning, Gantt charts and milestone planning
  • making the best use of planning software
  • managing risk

Influencing skills

  • the project leader as influencer
  • understanding influencing styles

Managing the implementation

  • monitoring techniques and change management
  • dealing with creeping scope
  • project communication strategy

The learning project
