Course Overview

This course highlights the many elements which need to be considered when creating and producing learning and development programmes and materials. Participants will be provided with ideas and structured formats to enable them to create programmes and a selection of materials. Participants may bring materials they wish to develop during the course for use on their return to work.

Audience

Those responsible for the design and development of learning and development programmes and materials. The course will benefit new course designers who need to develop a structured approach.

This course is primarily aimed at individuals who design 'group' training programmes which are normally delivered by a course tutor or trainer. Individuals who are responsible for designing 'hands-on' job instruction programmes, eg IT trainers, should attend Instructional training techniques.

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • write learning and development aims and behavioural objectives
  • structure a programme to balance available time
  • create programme outlines and tutor guides
  • decide when to incorporate participative sessions
  • source and utilise suitable pre-prepared materials
  • custom design role plays, group discussions and exercises
  • validate and evaluate
