Course Overview Learn how to use the WebSphere Development Studio Client (WDSc) for iSeries workstation (client) development tools for creating and maintaining traditional iSeries host applications. You will take advantage of the PC-based programmers-workbench to edit source code, design screen and report layouts, and debug iSeries applications. Audience iSeries application programmers using the host-based iSeries Application Development ToolSet (ADTS) products (PDM, SEU, SDA) who are interested in increasing their productivity by using new Workstation GUI tools. Skills Gained - After completing this course, the student should be able to:
- Describe WDSc's capabilities for creating and maintaining iSeries host applications
- Use Development Studio Client to create and manage an iSeries host application
- Describe relationships between Remote Systems Explorer, CODE Editor, and other Development Studio Client tools
- Describe value of using Remote Systems Explorer and iSeries Projects
Prerequisites Before attending this course, students should be able to: - Use Windows GUI applications
- Writes iSeries RPGIII, RPGIV or COBOL applications
- Use the traditional host-toolset (PDM/SEU/SD)
- Design server applications that access iSeries database files
- Use the 5250 "green screen" interface for working with the iSeries facilities
