Course Overview

This course teaches delegates the fundamentals of iSeries operations. Operators will learn how to use control language commands and menus to control the operation of an iSeries, and will be given ample opportunity to practise on one of our iSeries.

Audience

Operators who are new to the iSeries, trainee and backup operators who will be involved in the day to day running of an iSeries.

Skills Gained

This course will enable delegates to:

  • Use CL commands from the command line.
  • Navigate the operating system menus.
  • Control and manage jobs and job queues.
  • Control and manage output and output queues.
  • Send, receive and answer messages.
  • Deal with common problems.
  • Start and stop subsystems, and the system.
  • Carry out a save and restore.
  • Power the system on and off.

Prerequisites

Although there are no pre-requisites for this course, delegates must be computer literate.
