Learn the latest AIX 5L V5.3 performance analysis and tuning tools and options that take advantage of the new virtualization features. You'll learn which tools to use, when, and how they've been enhanced for the latest POWER5 and AIX 5L technology. These skills are invaluable to individuals responsible for the performance of the POWER5 processor-based system.

Hands-on lab exercises reinforce each lecture and give the students practical experience applicable to their performance management requirements.

Prerequisites

Students attending this course are expected to have extensive AIX 5L system administration and performance monitoring skills. These skills can be obtained by attending the following courses:

QT040 AIX 5L Performance Analysis and Tuning (IBM internal) or QT061 AIX 5L Performance Management I: Introduction to Tools and Typical Performance Issues (IBM internal) or AU18G/Q1318 AIX Version 5L System Administration III: Performance Management or have the equivalent, extensive AIX 5L knowledge, basic networking knowledge, and good performance monitoring skills.

Course Outline

Students in this course learn advanced skills to measure, analyze, and tune AIX 5L subsystems for optimal performance on the IBM POWER5 processor-based system. This course focuses on the features that relate to the special monitoring, configuring, performance management, and tuning needs of AIX 5L logical partitions (LPARs). This course does not cover application monitoring and tuning.
