Course Overview The IBM Tivoli Netcool/Precision for IP Networks Fundamentals course is designed to provide an understanding of the key product processes, including the integration with Netcool/OMNIbus, Root Cause Analysis calculation and network monitoring via the Precision Pollers. The Netcool/Precision Fundamentals course begins with a basic overview of product components are their associated functionality. Students will then install and configure Netcool/Precision, carrying out a full discovery of simulated networks containing various vendor specific devices. In order to further understand the intricacies of the discovery cycle, students will explore and enhance discovery agents and learn practical and useful OQL query commands. In order to extend the functionality and build resilience, students will configure and maintain a Precision Failover Server pair into a full Failover OMNIbus environment The latter stage of the course will provide each student with an introduction to the Fault Manager component and the basic 'out of the box' RCA rules. Audience Pre-sales engineers, System Integrators, Value Added Resellers (VARs) and System Administrators of Netcool/Precision, who will be required to install, configure and maintain Netcool/Precision. Skills Gained The basic features and tools of Netcool/Precision, as well as gaining hands on experience in building and configuring discovery agents, and filters. Students will: - Build an appreciation for the Precision interface and understand the product
- Be able to install Netcool/Precision on Unix servers
