Course Overview

This hands-on training course focuses on day-to-day management of existing VMware Infrastructure 3 ("VI3") deployments. It covers selected features of VMware ESX Server and VMware VirtualCenter.

This course does not qualify participants to attempt the examination for VMware Certified Professional status.

This course has been classified as IT Technical Training.

Audience

Personnel responsible for day-to-day operations in an existing VI3 environment. (Personnel responsible for the build-out or scaling of VI3 sites should instead participate in, first, VMware Infrastructure 3: Install and Configure, and then VMware Infrastructure 3: Deploy, Secure, and Analyze.)

Skills Gained

At the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Install and configure virtual machines
  • Deploy virtual machines from templates
  • Migrate and manage virtual machines
  • Monitor and troubleshoot virtual machine problems

Prerequisites

System administration experience on Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems.

  • Workload assessment

Module 5: VM Troubleshooting

  • Systematic isolation of problems
  • Common symptoms, faults, fixes
