Course Overview IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 lets users manage their systems graphically, dynamically, and flexibly, with a browser-enabled interface that helps transform systems management data into information they need to keep systems up and running. In this course, students will learn how to implement IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1. This training class is provided in a classroom environment with multiple opportunities for hands-on lab practice. Most of the scenarios used in this class will be based on using IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1, as well as IBM Tivoli Enterprise Console, IBM Tivoli Monitoring 5.1.2, and IBM Distributed Monitoring 3.7. Audience This course is designed for implementers who are responsible for implementing IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1. Skills Gained Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: - 1.Plan an ITM 6.1 implementation.
- 2. Install, configure and maintain IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 and all its prerequisites.
- 3. Install and configure Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Agents.
- 4. Implement failover support for IBM Tivoli Monitoring.
- 5. Describe how to implement ITM 6.1 user security and infrastructure component communication security.
- 6. Describe a migration or coexistence plan to ITM 6.1 from any of the following environments:
- CandleNet Portal
- IBM Tivoli Monitoring 5.1
- Distributed Monitoring 3.7
Prerequisites The following skills are expected: - 1. Familiarity with IBM Tivoli Monitoring architecture.
- 2. Ability to use and navigate the Tivoli Enterprise Portal.
- 3. Working knowledge of how to access situation events, situation event details, and status changes.
- 4. Ability to manage situation events effectively using IBM Tivoli Monitoring.
- 5. Experience with the Tivoli desktop.
- 6. Working knowledge of TEC 3.9.
- 7. Working knowledge of system administration of Linux and Windows 2000.
