A Change Management system offers a means to control changes and reduce the adverse impact of change related problems. The ability to make changes without errors and/or wrong decisions is crucial to the provision of an efficient IT Service. Change Management provides a mechanism to control and manage the initiation, implementation and review of proposed changes to the operational IT Infrastructure.

The course is assignment based, with a strong emphasis on practical coursework. It is based upon the Change Management section of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC's) ITIL(R) book Best Practice for Service Support. A case study is utilised throughout the course. Each student is registered for the Change Management Practitioners examination, unless otherwise stated.

Skills Gained

  • Learn how to implement and review the processes necessary for effective and efficient management of Changes, resulting in a more stable service.
  • Increase understanding of Change Management as part of the Service Management lifecycle.
  • Obtain practical experience of planning a Change Control system that you can use in your own organisation, or practical experience of how to improve your existing system.
  • Participants will be prepared for the examination leading to the Change Management Practitioner Certificate in IT Service Management.

Examinations

Award of this certificate is by both an in course assessment and an examination, carried out in a complex case study environment. The examination is taken at the end of the course and consists of a 2 hour paper consisting of 40 multiple choice questions: the in course assessment is performed during the course and takes the form of a written assignment.
