Course Overview The IBM System Storage N series is designed to provide customers with access to their storage investments through all major storage access protocols including NAS, iSCSI for IP SAN and FCP protocol for Fiber Channel SAN environments. Support for NAS, IP SAN and FC SAN environments operate concurrently or separately based on the customer's needs. Focus of the workshop are the available N series products which will be covered in theory. The lab sessions are done with N3700 systems. Each student will use his/her own node Audience Business Partner or IBMer who are responsible for installing N series storage solutions. Skills Gained After completing this course, you should be able to: - describe the hardware components of the available IBM System Storage N series
- describe the difference between SAN and NAS
- describe the network protocols used by the IBM System Storage N series
- describe the Data ONTAP operating system
- describe the SnapShot technology
- describe the available supporting software such as SnapShot, SnapRestore, SnapLock, etc.
- do basic administration tasks through the web interface FilerView
- do basic administration tasks through the command line
- attach Windows client to the IBM System Storage N series with iSCSI and CIFS
- attach Linux client to the IBM System Storage N series with NFS
Prerequisites - Basic understanding of storage and networking technologies
- basic knowledge of Windows 2003 and/or Linux Administration
