Course Overview

This course takes the student from an overview of the Meridian 1 range through to all the skills and techniques required to install and maintain the Meridian 1 and to meet the prerequisite for Nortel CS1K training.

Audience

This course is aimed at installation, maintenance and support staff that will wish to install and maintain the Meridian 1 or to meet the pre-requisite for Nortel CS1K training

Skills Gained

  • Identify the range of Meridian Products.
  • Describe install and configure Common, Network and Peripheral equipment of large systems.
  • Describe install and configure Option 11C hardware
  • Describe install and configure various Nortel digital telephones and a selection of associated features.
  • Access the Meridian 1 maintenance terminal
  • Print and interpret data from a Meridian 1
  • Use Nortel Technical Publications (NTP)
  • Perform system maintenance
  • Install and replace cards
  • Perform Installations and upgrades of meridian software
  • Perform system backups
  • Correct system faults on the meridian range
  • Configure, maintain and test Q.931 digital connections
  • Implement Uniform and Co-ordinated Dialling Plans
  • Implement AC1 and AC2 access codes

Prerequisites

Delegates should meet the following pre-requisites:

  • There are no pre-requisites for this course although the 0365C is highly recommended

  • Log in and out of the Meridian 1
  • Print and interpret unused units and card slots
  • Print and interpret systems packages
  • Print and Set the Time and Date
  • Use system documentation
  • Use Maintenance Overlays
  • Configure Telsets
  • Configure Analogue Trunks
  • Install mounting brackets, cabinets and connecting cables Option 11
  • Install and replace cards
  • Print the database and change models
  • Correct System faults option 11
  • Maintain and Upgrade Option 11
  • Perform basic database admin from the TTY
  • Perform backup and restore procedures Option
  • Develop customer numbering plan
  • Locate vacant DN's and TN's
