Writing Actuate Reports for Maximo 6

Course Overview

Writing Actuate Reports for IBM Maximo 6 is designed to show how basic IBM Maximo 6 reports are created and administered using MRO Software-specific functionality combined with the functionality provided in Actuate e.Report Designer Professional and other Actuate components. It is expected that participants will have some experience with report writing and administration, but that they need to learn the MRO/Actuate flavor of accomplishing the task.

Note: Exercises will be provided in sufficient detail that less-experienced people can follow along. However, the course does not teach SQL or relational database theory.

Audience

This is an introductory course for report developers who know and understand SQL programming along with relational database structure and want to learn about the Maximo/Actuate methods of creating reports. Also, less-experienced report writers and other individuals who evaluate the tools for use in their organizations can also benefit from this course.

Prerequisites

• Solid experience with multi-window/palette application usage
• Basic understanding of concepts centering around report design, writing, functionality, and administration
• Experience with Maximo 6 applications, functionality, and navigation
• Familiarity and understanding of Maximo 6 database tables
• Basic understanding of Web server architecture, functionality, and connectivity
• Solid knowledge of SQL coding
• Familiarity with databases and connectivity between databases and reports

Skills Gained

After completing this course, participants should be able to:

• Configure e.Report Designer Professional parameters for connectivity with development files, database, and Web server
• Navigate the e.Report Designer Professional product application to create, test, and publish reports and information objects
• Create and publish an information object using the Maximo information object template
• Create a reusable query using the IBM information object
• Design and publish a single header report using the Maximo single subheader template
• Design and publish a multiheader report using the Maximo multidame subheader template
• Design and publish a multiheader report using the Maximo multidiff subheader template
• Use the report administration application to register reports in IBM Maximo 6, including creation of parameters
