Course Overview In this course, students learn techniques and tools for successfully monitoring and tuning application performance in a WebSphere Application Server V6 environment. The course describes the activities conducted during the application life cycle that are key to a complete performance strategy, and focuses on post-deployment tasks and tools essential for maximizing performance and resolving performance problems. Students learn how to execute load tests and use complementary monitoring tools to analyze and understand application and system performance Audience This course is intended for system administrators, operations staff, application support staff, performance testers and IT architects. - Utilize WebSphere Application Server's performance monitoring and tuning technologies and tools
- Apply best practices for performance monitoring and tuning
- Define an effective performance monitoring and tuning strategy
- Execute load tests using Rational Performance Tester (RPT)
- Generate tuning advices using the performance advisors
- Monitor and analyze performance using Tivoli Performance Viewer (TPV), IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Response Time Tracking V6.0 (ITCAM for RTT), IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for WebSphere V6.0 (ITCAM for WebSphere) and IBM Tivoli Monitoring v6.1 (ITM)
Prerequisites This course requires the following: - A good understanding WebSphere Application Server V6 architecture and administration concepts, as provided by course SW246, IBM Application Server V6.0 Administration
- Familiarity with J2EE application technologies, including servlets, JSPs, EJBs, JDBC, and JMS
- A basic understanding of the performance features found in WebSphere Application Server V6, as described in the Performance section of the IBM Application Server V6 and V6.0.1 Education Assistant Web
