  • Be familiar with the Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS)
  • Be able to package and deploy a Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application to an application server
  • Be familiar with Internet protocols
  • Be familiar with Java EE technology
  • Be familiar with concepts of web services

Module 1 - Reviewing the features of Sun Java System Application Server PE 9

  • Assess your understanding of the information provided in the prerequisite course, WMT-IAS-1499, Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9: Overview.

Module 2 - Installing and Administering Application Server PE 9

  • Install the Application Server
  • Use the basic administration tools provided with the Application Server

Module 3 - Key Technologies in Application Server PE 9

  • Work with the Java DB database
  • Configure Java DataBase Connectivity (JDBC) connection pools and resources
  • Work with Java EE applications

Module 4 - JMX Infrastructure and the AMX API

  • Work with Managed Beans (MBeans) in the Application Server
  • Deploy custom MBeans
  • Configure self management rules

Module 5 - SOA Features in Application Server PE 9

  • Deploy and test web service applications

Module 6 - Deployment

  • Deploy Java EE applications
  • Launch Java EE application clients using Java Web Start software
  • Deploy Plain Old Java Object (POJO) Java web services

Module 7 - Developer Experience Features

  • Understand the class loader hierarchy of the Application Server
  • Use the Netbeans IDE 5.5 to develop Java EE applications
