Course Overview This course shows how to implement DFHSM (HSM) so as to improve overall storage performance, availability and reliability in both DFSMS and non-DFSMS installations. Both DFHSM and DFSMShsm are included in the course. It also includes ABARS which is becoming increasingly important in the disaster recovery arena Audience Storage Administrators and Systems Programmers. People involved with disaster recovery plans which use HSM will also find the course useful. Skills Gained On completion of this course, attendees will have a thorough knowledge to be able to plan, implement and control an HSM installation and be able to use the ABARS feature in the installation's disaster backup/recovery plans. - How DFSMShsm fits into the OS/390 system

Prerequisites An understanding of storage management and DASD concepts is necessary, this may be obtained from the course 'DASD Management'. - HSM control data sets: Structure of the CDSs; use of the FIXCDS to report and correct CDS errors
