Course Overview This course will give delegates a sound understanding of the principles and practice of effective and successful Programme Management. A realistic Case Study develops throughout the course. The course has been designed to prepare delegates for and comply with the syllabus requirements of the MSP Practitioner Examination. To provide delegates with a practical understanding of the OGC (Office of Government Commerce) approach to Programme Management (as documented in the book, Managing Successful Programmes 2007 edition) and the opportunity to practise essential aspects. To provide delegates with the opportunity to sit the MSP Practitioner Examinations. Audience Programme Managers, Programme Directors, those managers involved in Business Change, Programme/Project Support staff and Project Managers who will undertake roles in Programmes. It can be particularly useful as an advanced Project Management course for senior and very experienced Project Managers and those seeking a professional qualification. Skills Gained This course will enable delegates to: - Explain how programme governance can be tailored to suit different programme and business environments.
- Explain how each of the Governance Themes can be tailored to suit a particular programme scenario.
- Apply the MSP defined Governance Themes to the activities of the Transformational Flow.
- Explain the MSP defined Principles as applied to the Governance Themes and Transformational Flow.
- Produce definition, governance and planning documentation as defined in the MSP manual.
Examinations The course has been designed to prepare delegates for the MSP2007 Practitioners Certificate Examinations, administered by the Association for Project Management Group Ltd (APM Group Ltd). This exam is sat at the end of the course. This is a 3 hour, Objective Testing format examination. Prerequisites - Delegates should have a good appreciation of the principles and sound practical experience of Project Management, ideally utilising a recognised structured methodology. It would be helpful if they have some knowledge and/or experience of strategic or business planning.
- Delegates are required to hold a current MSP Foundation Certificate which can be achieved by attending MSP (Managing Successful Programmes): Foundation [MSPF] course.
