Course Overview

A Different Way to Learn Throughout this non-traditional course, you are the project manager tasked with designing, planning and implementing the world's sleekest and most thrilling rollercoaster. Using a state-of-the-art computer simulation, this fast-paced course compresses the tasks of a nine-month project into three days. From a newly designed rollercoaster car to a first-ever 90-degree track drop and a futuristic audio system, this intensive simulation provides experience in critical aspects of managing a multi-faceted, complex project.

Through extended experiential activities, you apply key project management skills, including managing resources, effectively handling real-world setbacks and unplanned developments, making decisions through several project phases, and steering the project to completion on time and within budget. After each phase, you analyse decisions made and outcomes generated in a team debriefing. The outcome of this dynamic course changes with each decision made, guaranteeing you a thorough project management skills training adventure!

Audience

New and experienced managers who want to practice a full range of project management techniques in a safe, simulated work environment. Project management experience at the level of Course 296, " Project Management: Skills for Success, " or Course 340, " Project Management for Software Development, " is assumed.

• Converting WBS to precedence networks
• Implementing a feasible project schedule
• Applying financial planning and cost accounting techniques
• Assigning and adjusting resources as tasks change
• Managing risk to ensure project success
