Course Overview

The purpose of this two day course is to provide the necessary information, skill development and practical hands-on training to enable data center personnel to operate, troubleshoot, and administer the L700e Tape library, which may contain a variety of tape drives. Approximately 50 percent of the course will involve hands-on lab experience.

Audience

This course is for Systems Administrators, Operators, and Data Center Managers.

Skills Gained

Upon course completion, students should be able to:

  • Locate needed information in the product documentation or on the web
  • Locate and identify major library components
  • Determine the applicability of requested connectivity configurations
  • Explain the auto-clean feature
  • Explain Fault Symptom Codes (FSCs)
  • Describe the differences between the L700/L700e & L180 libraries
  • Demonstrate how to load and invoke the StorageTek L-Series Library Admin software

Prerequisites

  • Knowledge in tape drives (DLT 7000/8000 & SDLT, STK Model 9840/9940, and LTO vendors), external interfaces (SCSI, RS423, Token Ring, TCP/IP), and basic troubleshooting techniques.
