Course Overview The SL8500 Customer Operation course is designed to help customers maximise their investment by understanding the salient operational, safety, and interconnectivity issues. Audience This course is for Systems Administrators, Operators, and Data Center Managers. Skills Gained Upon successful completion of this training the student will be able to: - Describe the function and operation of the SL8500 Modular Library System and associated tape drives
- Identify the functional components of the SL8500
- Explain the differences between the SL8500 operation to previous StorageTek libraries
- Define the key safety features of the SL8500
- Explain tape drive options for the SL8500 tape library
- Solve basic operational problems including:
- Robot re-initialisation
- Tape drive resetting
- Failed redundant component identification
- Demonstrate the proper procedure for entering the library
- Explain the StorageTek barcode labeling system
- Operate Streamline Library Console (SLC) for diagnostic and operational reporting
