Course Overview

Tivoli Business Services Manager (TBSM) helps visualise the health of critical business services and associated Service Level Agreements (SLAs). TBSM 4.1 enables IT to target resources and actions toward the most critical and costly IT resources and issues, ultimately delivering the greatest impact to the business. In this course, you will learn how to develop and build service models, configure service views, and the how to configure TBSM 4.1 to receive service events from a variety of monitoring products and their associated data feeds. Through hands-on exercises, you will use, configure, and administer TBSM 4.1.

  • Configure the TEC probe to receive events from TBSM event sources including TEC and ITM

  • Build service models using auto-population, data fetchers, and External Service Dependency Adapters (ESDAs).
  • Develop custom service views for users.
  • Administer users and groups within TBSM 4.1 and the IBM Netcool Security Manager framework.
  • Use and program the TBSM 4.1 Application Programming Interface (API).
  • Provide infrastructure administration for the TBSM 4.1 environment.
  • Install TBSM 4.1 using the installation GUI.
  • Describe bidirectional data flow between the OMNIbus Object Server and the TBSM server.
  • Describe the steps necessary to configure a TBSM 4.1 failover server.
  • Troubleshoot operations using TBSM logs.

Prerequisites

Background in networking protocols and architectures.
