Course Overview In this course, you build upon the knowledge that you acquired in the Hyperion Application Link: Create Projects class. You create advanced data integrations by using additional adapters and the Web-based Translation Manager, included in Hyperion Application Link Full. You create projects that incorporate user interaction, error and exception handling, and complex nesting and looping structures. Exercises at the end of the second day focus on specific Hyperion product adapters. A case study on the third day provides insight to real-world scenarios. Skills Gained Completion of this course will give delegates the skills to: - Add error handling and logging to flow diagrams by using the exception and log adapters
- Read and write flat files that use multiple formats
- Create interactive flow diagrams by using the dialog adapter
- Use parallel and nested generators in flow diagrams
- Summarise data by using the aggregate functions adapter
- Create integrations that include complicated looping structures by using the loop, stop, and counter adapters
- Control the scope of loops by using the scoping control and done generating ports
- Manipulate flat files by using the files and buffered files adapters
Prerequisites - Familiarity with the specific Hyperion products used in the Hyperion Application Link environment
- Familiarity with the source systems where target data resides
- Comprehension of data mapping and integration concepts
- Fundamental programming knowledge
- Hyperion Application Link 7.0: Create Projects
Course Outline Hyperion Application Link Overview Describing Hyperion Application Link Identifying the differences between Hyperion Application Link Basic and Hyperion Application Link Describing Hyperion Application Link components Identifying Hyperion Application Link adapters Creating Interactive Adapter Processes Creating flow diagrams that enable user input through dialog boxes Creating dialog adapters that use various types of controls Creating dialog boxes to display results for confirmation or informational purposes Creating either static or dynamically generated lists within dialog adapters Specifying tab order within dialog boxes Working with Multiple Generators and Collectors Tracing the flow of data through the flow diagram Defining how multiple generators within a loop contour work in a flow diagram Using the aggregate functions adapter Controlling Loops in Flow Diagrams Passing data values between flow diagrams Using the variable adapter Using external ports Changing the flow diagram type Adding loop adapters to flow diagrams Controlling the flow of data through the flow diagram by using loop adapters Counting in a flow diagram by using the appropriate method Controlling loop scope with the done generating port Working with Flat Files Using advanced methods and the facilities of the flat file adapter Using the open, close and set methods Using file descriptor ports Using read record and write record methods Appending records to a file Performing file management tasks with the files adapter Accommodating multiple record formats within a single file Accessing unstructured files with the buffered files adapter Error Handling Defining aborted value conditions Handling aborted values with the control adapter Defining exception conditions Using the exceptions adapter with the catch method Creating customised exceptions by using the exceptions adapter with the throw method Writing customised messages to the error log by using the log adapter Hyperion Product-Specific Adapters Describing the capabilities of Hyperion adapters Logging on a Hyperion application from a VBIS flow diagram Using methods for the selected Hyperion adapter Hyperion Translation Manager for the Web Configuring Hyperion Translation Manager for the Web Importing users from an external file into Translation Manager Adding and edit users Creating rules tables Creating and using member lists Writing translation rules Validating translation rules Assigning access rights to the rules table Advanced Projects Case Study Creating a user interface cascade wizard Projecting for complex translations without using Translation Manager Trapping errors with subroutines Creating a custom adapter with BSL Follow On Courses - Hyperion Enterprise 6.3: Create and Manage Applications
