Auditing Skills: Heads of Internal Audit Programme

Course Overview

This is an opportunity for heads of internal audit to get together and explore emerging issues and key challenges for internal auditors which require understanding and leadership from the top.

Audience

While designed primarily for heads of internal audit and those with internal audit management/leadership responsibilities, there will be mutual benefit from the presence of senior executives to whom internal audit reports and audit committee members.

Course Outline

The programme is flexible according to the special interests of those who attend. Participants are invited to indicate in advance the issues they would like covered, though this is not essential.

The programme has been designed to address the following and other issues:

• Assurance only, or some sort of consulting role too?
• What does audit independence really mean, and can it be a reality?
• Meaningful interfacing with the chief executive and the audit committee
• Determining the audit universe and the future audit plan
• Internal audit's role in risk management
• Is continuous auditing 'the way forward' or does it assume management's role?

• Are boards, as distinct from management teams, getting the regular assurance they need that board policies are being implemented by management - and who from?
