Course Overview

Through a combination of lectures, hands-on labs, and online learning modules, you will identify the major tasks of Sybase system and database administration. You will practice these tasks using your own Adaptive Servers (Version 12.0) in a safe and controlled environment.

Emphasis is given to resource management (memory, disk, and CPU) with a goal of creating a reliable Adaptive Server environment. Also presented are fundamental monitoring and troubleshooting methods, as well as details about the servers locking schemes and system and user-defined roles.

Prerequisites

Completion of Fast Track to Adaptive Server Enterprise, or equivalent experience. Extensive prior work with SQL and familiarity with Adaptive Server Enterprise is desirable.
