Course Overview

This workshop is designed to build upon the learning outcomes achieved at Foundation and Practitioner levels and, hence, facilitate the achievement of the learning outcomes at Advanced Practitioner level, identified in the MSP 2007 syllabus, published by the APM Group Ltd.

Course Objectives

  • To develop the delegate's practical understanding of the OGC (Office of Government Commerce) approach to Programme Management (as documented in the book, Managing Successful Programmes 2007 edition) by practising essential aspects against a realistic scenario and relating them to actual experience.
  • To provide delegates with the opportunity to sit the MSP 2007 Advanced Practitioner Examination.

Audience

Programme Managers, Programme Directors, those managers involved in Business Change, Programme/Project Support staff and Project Managers who will undertake roles in Programmes.

Skills Gained

This course will enable delegates to:

  • Explain how programme governance can be tailored to suit different programme and business environments.
  • Explain how each of the Governance Themes can be tailored to suit a particular programme scenario.
  • Apply the MSP defined Governance Themes to the activities of the Transformational Flow.
  • Explain the MSP defined Principles as applied to the Governance Themes and Transformational Flow.
  • Produce definition, governance and planning documentation as defined in the MSP manual.

Examinations

The course has been designed to prepare delegates for the MSP 2007 Advanced Practitioner Certificate Examination, administered by the Association for Project Management Group Ltd (APM Group Ltd). This exam is sat at the end of the course.

The Advanced Practitioner exam is a 2 hour, scenario based, open-book essay style paper.

Prerequisites

Delegates are expected to have experience in Programme Management and are required to have been awarded an MSP Practitioner certificate (although it is possible to attend the course and sit the exam while results are pending). The Practitioner certificate can be studied and achieved by attending one of the following courses:

  • Foundation & Practitioner [MSPFP] MSP (Managing Successful Programmes):
