Course Overview

This three day hands-on course delves into the world of DVD authoring using DVD Studio Pro 4. In this comprehensive course students will learn everything they need to create a professional DVD title. This course guides students through every aspect of DVD authoring, from initial storyboarding to burning and replication.

Audience

This class is designed for corporate designers, wedding and sports videographers, DVD enthusiasts, electronic publishers, film studio development executives, Final Cut Pro users, university film departments, website designers and anyone else who wants to learn how to create a professional-looking DVD on the Apple platform.

Skills Gained

Using compelling media and a real-world production workflow, students will learn how to create amasing MPEG 2 video with Compressor as well as how to create eye-popping motion menus directly in DVD Studio Pro. Students will also "author" a DVD by creating buttons, interactive links, slideshows, playlists and even adding alternate audio stream and camera angles.

Examinations

  • This course covers the partial requirements necessary to successfully become an Apple Certified Pro, Level 1.
  • DVD Studio Pro Level 1 certification also counts towards the new Final Cut Studio (FCS) Master Pro certification. FCS Master certification recognises a Certified Pro's skills with the entire Final Cut Studio product suite.

Prerequisites

Students are assumed to have a working knowledge of Apple Mac's.

1:Your FIRST DVD Project

DVD Creation Process, DVD Specification Basics, About Configurations, Media for DVD Authoring, The palette, The Inspector, Using the Basic Menu Editor, Menus and Templates, Creating Simple Buttons, Using Drop Zone, Using Text Elements in Menus, Simulating, Burning a DVD, and Recordable Media.

2:USING the Interface

Outline Tab, Connections Tab, Quadrants and tabs, Track Editor, Slideshow Editor, Story Editor, Script Editor, Asset Tab, and Creating a Simple One-track DVD.

3:Setting Up NEW PROJECTS

Storyboarding a DVD, Creating a New Project, Importing Assets, Asset Info, Simple Encoding, and Using Compressor to Encode a File.

4:TRACKS AND MARKERS

Creating Tracks, Creating Chapter Markers, Track End Jumps, Setting Audio Stream Language Tags, and Adding an Alternate Audio Stream

5:Creating STANDARD MENU

Adding a Background, Creating Buttons, Linking Buttons to Tracks, Creating a Menu Template, Creating Button Shapes, Adding Button Styles, Adding Text Objects, Adding Text to a Menu Background, Creating Drop Zones, Adding Graphics and Still Images, and Creating an Overlay and Button Highlights.
