Course Overview

Perform basic database administration tasks using IBM DB2 Universal Database. These tasks include creating and populating databases and implementing a logical design to support recovery requirements.

If you are an experienced relational DBA in a database other than DB2 then this course will help you learn basic DB2 UDB database administration skills in a fast-path manner. This course is in effect a 2-day version of CF21 or CF23.

Audience

Experienced Database Administrators and technical personnel on other relational database platforms who are involved in planning, implementing, and maintaining DB2 databases.

  • List and describe the components of DB2 Universal Database
  • Implement DB2? security
  • Perform basic administration of a DB2 database system

Prerequisites

Before taking this course you should be able to:

  • Perform basic database administration tasks on a relational database system
  • Use basic OS functions on Linux such as utilities, file permissions, hierarchical file system, commands, and editor
  • State the functions of the Structured Query Language (SQL) and be able to construct DDL, DML, and authorisation statements
  • Discuss basic relational database concepts and objects such as tables, indexes, views, and joins
