DB2 UDB for z/OS Systems Administration

Course Overview

This course discusses DB2 on the z/OS platform presenting the information you need to understand, evaluate, and manage DB2 system functions. It shows you how to tailor and install DB2 and its attachment facilities, how to do system problem determination, and how to set up security procedures. The course features instruction on DB2 system recovery and system performance tuning.

Audience

Anyone responsible for managing and implementing a DB2 system.

Prerequisites

Before taking this course, you should have an understanding of the objects (tables, indexes, databases, and so forth) used in DB2 systems, and of how those objects are created, managed, and recovered.

These skills can be developed by taking the DB2 Database Administration Workshop (CF83U) or through equivalent experience.

Course Outline

On completion of this course delegates will be able to:

• Select the DB2 functions that best satisfy your site requirements
• Implement security procedures for a DB2 environment
• Describe the components and address space structure of a
• DB2 subsystem
• Implement DB2 system recovery procedures
• Understand the basic principles of DB2 system performance

• Interpret key fields on DB2 statistics and accounting reports
• Install DB2 (with the help of the DB2 library)

This course replaces course CF85GB. The course does not include hands-on practical work.
