ITCAM for Web Resources 6.2: Implementation and Usage Workshop

IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Web Resources (ITCAM for Web Resources) provides a leading-edge J2EE application management solution for the IT Operations segment. ITCAM for Web Resources simplifies the installation and management of the application server and Web server management agents, and improves usability through dashboard views and event correlation situations and actions. In this workshop, you will learn the product features and functions, how to install and configure the product for WebSphere, and how to use the Tivoli Enterprise Portal to monitor WebSphere applications. The focus of this course will be hands-on exercises. Note that this course focuses on deploying ITCAM for Web Resources in an IBM WebSphere environment. IBM WebSphere Application Server 6.1 will be used in the exercises.

Audience

Implementers tasked with installing and configuring ITCAM for Web Resources agents into their Tivoli Enterprise Portal infrastructure, and WebSphere administrators tasked with providing a monitoring solution for their application servers.

Prerequisites

Required Skills/Knowledge. It is assumed that the student is proficient in using IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 in a Windows or UNIX/Linux environment.In addition, students should be familiar with the concepts and practices of monitoring composite applications. They should have skills in configuring J2EE application servers. Recommended Courses: ITCAM for Web Resources 6.2 uses the Tivoli Enterprise Portal to display monitoring data, so the student would benefit from taking either the IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) 6.1 for Operators 1 day instructor-led course, or the equivalent IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1: Operator Tasks Web-based Training (WBT). Those totally new to ITM should take the IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 Introduction WBT. Those familiar with predecessor versions of ITM should take the IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 Differences WBT. Students should also complete the STE: ITCAM for Web Resources Operators Overview.!

Skills Gained

After completing this course, students should be able to accomplish the following: Describe the high-level architecture of ITCAM for Web Resources.Install and configure the WebSphere and Web Server agents for ITCAM for Web Resources.Use product-provided workspaces, situations, and Take Action commands to monitor applications and servers.
