The IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus version 7.0 Administration and Configuration course builds on the knowledge gained on the Netcool/OMNIbus User Course and covers all aspects of installation, deployment, administration, configuration and customization of the Netcool/OMNIbus product.

This Administration and Configuration course focuses on the deployment, configuration and everyday maintenance of the Netcool/OMNIbus product from the administrator perspective. Students will begin by installing the OMNIbus appllication on their own server and then cover all the standard configuration objects throughout the course.

Audience

Personnel who will be required to install the Netcool/OMNIbus product or perform administration and configuration tasks. All personnel who will be required to install, configure, maintain or support Netcool/OMNIbus systems

Prerequisites

Each candidate must have a practical understanding of UNIX at the system administration level with the ability to:

  • Use the UNIX editor vi
  • Navigate the UNIX directory structure
  • Use basic utilities such as ps, grep, telnet, and ftp
  • Diagnose and resolve the cause of a software problem
  • Candidates should additionally have a basic understanding of the following concepts:
  • TCP/IP
  • Network management, SNMP
  • Basic shell scripting or programming
  • Basic database terminology

Note: Completion of the IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus User course is mandatory.

Skills Gained

Upon completion of this course, each student will have an understanding of the advanced administration and configuration options available within Netcool/OMNIbus. Hands on practical experience is carried out throughout the course. Students will:

  • Know how to install Netcool/OMNIbus including licensing and patches
