Course Overview

The IBM Tivoli Netcool/XSM 3.1 Administration course is a 4 day performance-based offering facilitating a deep understanding of application service monitors (ASMs), system monitor operations (SMs), and Internet service monitors (ISMs). This course is focused on how to install, configure, customise, and administer the Netcool/XSMs.

With a strong focus on development, deployment, configuration and management of the Netcool/SSM agents, this course is intended for system administrators.

All students in this course install the Netcool/SSM program on their own lab machine and work through standard configuration issues. After system and application subagent configuration tasks, the course shifts into customising and tweaking alarm rules, reving up the Netcool/SM Operations program to learn all about remote deployment; and, finally, installing and cofiguring the Netcool/ISMs.
