Course Overview

Workflow for IBM Maximo Enterprise Suite (MXES) provides robust functionality that allows you to automate your work processes related to any application and record type. The Workflow Using IBM Maximo 6 (for IT) course provides solid, general concepts that will enable you to work toward developing your own processes with hands-on use of all related development and security applications. If your workflow processes are developed by consultants, the course will bring you to a level of competency to work with those consultants to obtain the optimal value from the product.

Audience

The goal of this course is to establish competency in IBM Maximo Workflow development, including the use of related applications. You will gain an understanding of how Workflow can help automate business processes.

Although this course is not intended to teach you how to redesign your business processes, a Workflow implementation methodology is used throughout the course and can act as a guide for Workflow implementations. The types of people who would benefit from this course include:

• Workflow implementation team members
• Workflow managers for Service Desk or ITAM operations
• Those evaluating IBM Maximo Workflow for use in their organisations

After completing this course, you should be able to:

• list the benefits of using Workflow to automate the business process for service requests, work orders, purchase requisitions, and purchase orders.
• create a new Workflow process by adding nodes and using the Workflow Designer application to connect them;
• use security functionality to create data needed for assignments, notifications, and application access;
• develop escalations to reassign tasks and to auto-initiate Workflow processes;
• configure additional information and records to be used with Workflow processes, such as notifications, roles, and actions;
• start a Workflow process on a work order and on a service request;
• view in-progress workflows;
• use the Workflow Inbox to access and perform task assignments;
• reassign tasks when a user cannot perform his or her assignment;
• stop processes and reassign tasks using the Workflow Administration application; and
• import and export Workflow processes through the IBM Maximo Enterprise Adapter (MEA).

Service Desk Management Using IBM Maximo 6 (for IT) and System Administration for IBM Maximo 6 or Immersion Training in IBM Maximo 6 (for IT)

• Process analysis, including a step-by-step approach to implementing IBM Maximo Workflow to automate a business process
• Creating and validating workflows in IBM Maximo
• Implementing the process, including starting Workflow processes, completing assignments, and monitoring a record's progress through the Workflow process
• Using the IBM Maximo Inbox area on Start Centers to access and manage assigned tasks
• Setting up IBM Maximo security to add person-related and other data used to create roles and application access privileges
• Developing related records used in conjunction with Workflow processes, such as notifications, roles, actions, and escalations
