Course Outline
MPLS Overview
A high-level description of MPLS and how it fits into networks. Topics covered include: features and benefits of MPLS, and practical applications.
Cisco Implementation
Cisco's implementation of MPLS technology and the types of devices that are enabled with label switching capabilities. Topics covered include: Cisco products implementing Label Switching, real applications for MPLS and an explanation of Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) and its requirement for MPLS.
Label Distribution Protocol
A detailed description of MPLS Label Distribution Protocol (LDP), formerly known as Tag Distribution Protocol (TDP), its implementation and how it drives MPLS. Topics include an overview of LDP with Cisco Show and Config commands.
MPLS Traffic Engineering
MPLS Traffic Engineering, and how to employ specific product features. Overview of Traffic Engineering, basic CLI commands and parameters.
MPLS Class of Service
A detailed coverage of the utilisation of MPLS Class of Service to take advantage of specific product features. Overview of suggested hardware and software configurations. Basic CLI commands and parameters used for CoS.
MPLS VPNs
This module provides students with a detailed description of the optimal placement and utilisation of MPLS VPNs in a network environment to take advantage of product features. In addition, there is an overview of the MPLS VPN architecture; the mechanisms implemented in IOS. Lastly, CLI commands and parameters are discussed and demonstrated.
