Course Overview

This three-day instructor-led course is designed as an introduction to the Metify ABM software and will provide you with the skills necessary to design and build a basic model. You should take this course to learn how to define model structure, link elements and input value data.

The course also covers importing data into a model from third party software such as Microsoft Excel. The use of basic rules to alter cost flow in a model is also covered. In this course you will also gain the skills needed to retrieve basic reports that can be used to display data from your model.

Audience

The target audience for this course is technical pre and post sales consultants.

Prerequisites

While not required for this course, experience with these products or technologies will be helpful:

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Activity Based Costing

Course Outline

Lesson #1 - Introduction to ABC/M and Metify

  • Introduce the basic principles of Activity Based Costing/Management
  • Introduce the Metify software and interface

Lesson #2 - Activity Costing

  • Show how the underlying concepts of Activity Based Costing are applied in practice within the Metify ABM software

Lesson #3 - Cost Object Analysis

  • Define and enter details at the Cost Object level of a model

Lesson #4 - Periods Analysis

  • Introduce the concept of accommodating multiple time periods within a Metify ABM model

Lesson #5 - Reallocations

  • Develop the skills needed to reallocate cost from shared services Activities and shared General Ledger costs within a model

Lesson #6 - Basic Back Calculation

  • Perform What If analysis on model data to enable future planning

Lesson #7 - Profitability Analysis

  • Examine profitability including the introduction of external costs, unit rates and units sold information

Lesson #8 - Importing

  • Import information into a Metify ABM model using .DAT files and the DataBridge application

Lesson #9 - Metify Link

  • Export data from a Metify ABM model into Microsoft Excel to produce bespoke reports

Lesson #10 - Case Study

  • Consolidation exercise to recap on model building routines in Metify ABM

Lesson #11 - Advanced Importing

  • Cover advanced importing techniques such as the importing of model structure

Lesson #12 - Overrides and Spare Resource

  • Introduce the concept of overrides
  • Calculate spare resource within a Metify ABM model

Lesson #13 - Account and Activity Types

  • Add different account and activity types into a Metify ABM model and their effect on calculation

Lesson #14 - Advanced Cost Object Analysis

  • Introduce the concept of derived and weighted Cost Drivers into a model and their effect on calculation
