Course Overview The NEBOSH National Diploma is a structured qualification to enable you to progress your career in health & Safety and offers the academic requirements for chartered membership of IOSH. It aims to provide the knowledge & understanding that underpins competent performance as a Health & Safety Professional. The Diploma programme is intensive, requiring 6 weeks attendance. In addition to preparing for 3 written exams there will be 1 workplace-based assignment. Experience has shown that some prospective course members (and sometimes their employers) greatly under-estimate the commitment of time and effort involved. Every course member and their sponsor (if relevant) will be required to enter into a learning contract demonstrating a commitment to the course. Audience The National Diploma is designed for individuals who want to progress their career in health & safety & develop more in-depth knowledge & skills aiming to become health & safety practitioners. Skills Gained After successfully completing the course the delegate will: - Be able to provide detailed advice for health & safety issues in line with current legislation & HSE guidance.
- Be able to assist the organisation in continual health & safety management and control measures.
- Have a broad range of detailed knowledge & the application of key health & safety issues.
Examinations - NEBOSH National Diploma
- GradIOSH designatory letters can be used after enrolment for a period of Initial Professional Development (IPD).
- CMIOSH chartered status is gained after successful completion of a minimum of 2 years Initial Professional Development (IPD).
Prerequisites It is recommended that delegates hold the NEBOSH National General Certificate, NEBOSH International General Certificate, NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Safety & Health or equivalent level 3 qualification subject to agreement. Unit D: Application of Health & Safety Theory & Practice Candidates are required to make a detailed reveiw of the health & safety performance of a workplace or organisation an produce a justified action plan to improve performance. The expected length of the assisgnment is around 8,000 words. Assessment System It consists of three 3-hour exams for Units A, B & C and a workplace-based assisgnment for Unit D. All are set & marked by NEBOSH. The NEBOSH National Diploma is offered, on a 6-week block release study programme. The 4 units will be covered by lectures, videos, discussion groups, web support and syndicate exercises. The study periods will allow for the experienced teaching team to cover the requirements of the syllabus and continually assess the performance of candidates as they progress towards the award of the National Diploma. Study weeks will be separated by periods where candidates will have the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge and complete the required assessments for the award. Candidates will be provided with comprehensive supporting study notes. Candidates will be encouraged to make their own notes during the course programme.
