Course Overview The new Companies Act repeals and consolidates the earlier Companies Acts of 1985, 1989 and 2004. During its passage through Parliament it was described as ‘gargantuan’. It represents the largest piece of legislation ever passed by Parliament running to 1300 sections and 16 schedules. The Act was initially to be introduced in 3 main tranches in October 2007, April 2008 and October 2008.The majority of October 2008 legislation has now been deferred until October 2009.
