Course Overview

This is an intensive course of instruction and labs on cross-platform integration of directory services to provide authentication or information service across the enterprise. This course is designed for individuals with RHCE competency on skills required to manage and deploy directory services on and for Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.

This course has been classified as IT Technical Training.

Audience

Senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administrators and other IT professionals who need to provide enterprise-wide authentication or information services or who desire training in the management of LDAP-based directory services and customisation of Linux authentication.

Skills Gained

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Gain an understanding of the basic concepts, configuration and management of LDAP-based services
  • Understand the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) system and how it is integrated with services that require authentication and authorisation

Prerequisites

  • This course requires RHCE-level skills.
  • The RHCE certificate on Red Hat Linux 7.1 or later is recommended but not required.
  • Prerequisite requirements can be met by passing the RHCE exam in either RH302 RHCE Certification Lab Exam or RH300 RHCE Rapid Track Course or by completing RH253 Red Hat Linux Networking & Security Administration or equivalent skills and knowledge.

Course Outline

  • Basic LDAP concepts,
  • how to configure and manage an OpenLDAP server,
  • using LDAP as a "white page" directory service,
  • using LDAP for user authentication and management,
  • integrating multiple LDAP servers.
