Course Overview

Agile approaches can achieve extensive and measurable business benefit and increasingly, both private and public sector organisations are looking for business agility in order to survive and thrive. The truly "Agile" organisation is adaptive and able to react quickly to change. This event focuses specifically on helping public sector organisations (central and local government) to implement Agile. It provides these organisations with practical guidance in Agile and enables them to meet the companies best placed to help them with Agile-related consultancy, guidance and solutions.

"Some of Whitehall's biggest computer projects have spiraled out of control, with total cost overruns of more than GBP 18 billion" - such headlines are frequently in the news and government IT projects are notoriously out of budget and over time.

Some maintain that many Public Sector IT projects would benefit by applying Agile and Lean methods, while others believe that, as Agile works well when the organisation is willing to take a risk on doing things differently, it would be inappropriate for the public sector culture. This event shows how to make Agile work successfully within public sector.

A number of government agencies and departments have been investigating "going Agile" and there are good instances of successful Public Sector Agile Projects which will be shared at this event.

The forum presents real-life case studies from organisations such as the UK NHS and Ireland's Department of Social & Family Affairs along with review talks to give participants the facts that will enable them to make informed decisions and discover how Agile really does bring the benefits of shortened delivery times and lower costs.

It is relevant for all public sector organisations considering 'going Agile' and to those that have already started using Agile but who need additional help and guidance.

The is the Europe's first major independent event to focus entirely on Agile within the public sector - the event is run in partnership with a number of partners including professional / industry bodies and providers of Agile solutions and services - among them the Agile Alliance; DSDM Consortium; ThoughtWorks; Valtech; Original Software.

In order to keep the attendance fee very low for attendees from the public sector, some of these organisations have provided sponsorship. If you are within a public sector organisation and interested to find out more about Agile or are already implementing it - this event will definitely help you!
