Course Overview

Please note : this course is run over 4 evening sessions, normally running Monday - Thursday from 6pm - 9pm.

Light tea and refreshments will be provided and timings will be confirmed at time of booking. This course is also available as a 2 day instructor led class

Exisiting VCP?

If you are an existing VCP all you need to do is attend the 2 day "Whats New" course in order to upgrade your certification to VCP on vSphere4 - this shortcut to certification is only available until the end of December 2009. Thereafter you would need to attend the 4 day vSphere 4 ICM course in order to be eligible to sit your examination

This hands-on evening training course explores new features in future versions of VMware® vCenter Server and ESX™/ESXi, as well as how to upgrade to vSphere 4.

Audience

This course is designed for System architects, system administrators, IT managers, and individuals responsible for implementing and managing VMware Infrastructure architectures.

  • Upgrading VMware deployments
  • Deploying distributed virtual switches to simplify datacenter-wide network management
  • Using VMDirectPath to assign a PCI adapter directly to a virtual machine

  • Employing VMware's new Pluggable Storage Architecture

Module 3: Networking

  • Discusses networking enhancements that simplify configuration, extend support, and improve performance.

Module 4: Storage

  • Introduces vSphere 4 new storage features that reduce storage costs, streamline management, and optimize performance.

Module 5: Resource Management

  • Reviews vMotion™ compatibility enhancements, new VMware Distributed Resource Scheduler monitoring and management tools, and extended VMware DPM support.

Module 6: Business Continuity

  • Presents VMware High Availability enhancements and introduces VMware Fault Tolerance and vStorage APIs for data recovery.
