Course Overview

DfSS stands for Design for Six Sigma - an approach to designing or re-designing new products, services or processes. The intention of DfSS is to bring such new products and/or services to market with a process performance close to Six Sigma performance levels for every key requirement. This requires an ability to understand customer needs precisely, and to design and develop the new process, product or service with inbuilt reliability.

The DfSS approach builds on the concepts and tools from the DMAIC approach. New tools are used, in particular around creativity and risk identification. Strong emphasis is placed on identifying and transitioning customer needs to process requirements, and on error and failure proofing.
