Course Overview

This Value management training course is the first of two three day modules, accredited by the Institute of Value Management (IVM). It is intended for those who wish to enhance their management skills and become Value Analysis study leaders.

VM, incorporating Value Engineering, is part of the APM's Body of Knowledge and a core tool for Project Managers of all disciplines.

At the end of this first advanced course participants will have sufficient skills in Value Analysis to achieve the IVM's Certificate in Value Analysis and lead a VA study. The second (optional) three days concentrate on the broader aspects and skills of Value Management to apply VM at the strategic level, and leading to the EC qualification Professional in Value Management, (PVM).

Audience

Participants must show evidence of satisfactory attendance at a VM Foundation Course with subsequent VM practical experience, or other acceptable evidence of basic VM knowledge and experience. In addition candidates must have had general professional experience of at least one year. The Advanced Course is limited to 12 participants.

Skills Gained

By the end of the course, delegates will:

Have developed the essential skills and knowledge to become a competent Value Analysis facilitator:

• Planning and managing a VA study
• Facilitation of VA workshops
• Presentation skills
• Understand recording and reporting methods for VM
• Consolidated VM learning (one to one time for later application)
• Developed a VM Personal Action Plan
• Be eligible, (subject to further practical experience) to apply for the Institute of Value Management's qualification Certificate in Value Analysis (CVA)

Prerequisites

• Demonstrate good familiarity with the APM Body of Knowledge and have passed an equivalent qualification such as PMP, ISEB Certificate in Project Management, Open University Project Management Module M865; or
• Can demonstrate they have good foundation knowledge of project management, supported by evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
