Course Overview This endorsed award consists of a linked series of courses covering a range of information and topics essential to any project leader or manager plus a review day during which the outcomes of their learning and experiences are discussed and evaluated in a small group. The award is designed to provide participants with knowledge and skills in project leadership and management practices (and allow those wishing to do so to proceed towards a nationally recognised award, for example the Chartered Management Institute's Diploma in Programme and Project Management at level 4). Audience Project managers, project leaders, project team member, line managers Skills Gained On successful completion of all of these stages, the participant will be awarded the Certificate in project leadership endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management and may progress, if they wish, on to the Chartered Management Institute's Diploma in Programme and Project Management at level 4. Course Outline The route to Certificate in project leadership is in four stages. These are: Stage 1 Attendance at Project management: tools and techniques (3 days) Stage 2 Attendance at Project management: people skills (2 days) Stage 3 Back in the workplace - participants should demonstrate involvement in the leadership of a significant project - either overall responsibility or as leader of a substantial part of a major project. A minimum of five days of accumulated time should be spent on the project and a project log completed (the project log is provided by Capita Learning & Development). The project log should be submitted to the tutor for marking at least two weeks before attending stage 4 Stage 4 Project management review day The aim of the day is to provide an opportunity for participants to share their experience of managinga project and consolidate their learning. The outline programme of the day will include: - Participants' presentations of their project
- Surgery - review of any problems/issues
- Coaching
- Practical exercises
- Workshop review and future action.
