Course Overview

This course introduces the complete Accelerator product line and is specific to release 5.0+ of the software. Subjects focused on during this class include explanations of Enterprise Caching Technology (ECT), new Layer 4-7 acceleration technologies (e.g. for TCP, DNS, HTTP, etc.), configuration in ON-PATH and ON-LAN environments, serial WAN configuration, resilience and automatic fail-over and the use of RIP/OSPF, HSRP/VRRP.Layer 7 classification and QoS bandwidth management are studied as are LAN and WAN troubleshooting techniques, logging features and the various web based monitoring and reporting tools.

  • The course concentrates on configuration using the web browser interface but also covers use of appropriate CLI commands for the building and monitoring of links and for the advanced features such as the use of VRSP, where appropriate. The extensive graphical monitoring facilities are discussed for both links and applications before studying the classification and QoS / traffic shaping features and the advanced configuration options. Finally, trouble-shooting techniques and administrative tasks are covered which include Accelerator events and logging
  • SNMP and NetFlow
  • backing up and upgrading software
  • etc.

The course involves a mix of theory, discussions, and practical exercises. Students will gain plenty of hands-on experience with all aspects of the Accelerator product line, and with the AOS user interface.

Audience

  • Use the graphical (and CLI based) monitoring tools to analyse network and application performance
  • Troubleshoot the Accelerator product line including both hardware and software for LAN and WAN installations.
  • Perform essential administrative tasks such as configuration back-up and image upgrade

This course is of a technical nature, therefore experience of networking technologies is essential. In order to get the most out of the training you should have at least a basic knowledge and hands-on experience with data networking, LAN and WAN network basics, bridging and routing technology and TCP/IP addressing and routing
