Course Overview This course is aimed at anyone currently involved or about to become involved in projects, who have a basic or limited knowledge of Project Management principles, practices, tools and techniques. This could include, project team members and project support staff, entry-level project management practitioners, undergraduate and graduate students. It will introduce delegates to the Project Management Institute's (PMI's) project management processes and knowledge areas - as defined in the PMBOK(R) Guide 3rd. Edition - and will additionally prepare delegates to attain CAPM certification via a separate examination. It would be expected that delegates who achieve the CAPM qualification will eventually go on to achieve Project Management Professional (PMP) certification when they have accrued sufficient experience. This course will satisfy the 23 contact hours training requirement necessary for CAPM examination eligibility. Prerequisistes The course is designed for participants who have a basic or limited knowledge of project management and who are working in a project environment. Delegates wishing to go on and take the CAPM qualification must comply with the CAPM eligibility criteria as currently defined by the PMI on their website below. Delegates who already have a good working knowledge of Project Management principles, practices, tools and techniques gained from a minimum of one years experience or from a minimum of 23 contact hours of formal project management training are recommended to take the 2 day Certified Associate in Project Management Exam Preparation Workshop Course Outline - Context and Framework of Project Management - the exam structure, project environment and professional responsibilitu, generic and general management skills
- Project Initiation - project requirements and objectives, project charter
- Project Planning - project integration, scope, time costs and risks, resource estimation and definitions, quality, teamwork, communications
- Project Execution - team development, administrering contracts, coordination and authorisation of work
- Project Control - integrated change control, performance reporting, data gathering, monitoring
- Project Closing - documenting and archiving, project closure procedures
Case studies will be utilised wherever possible and sample exam questions will be attempted throughout the course after every major process or knowledge area.
