Course Overview This course is intended for Network Administrators or other personnel who are responsible for the configuration, use and support of TCP/IP and common network services such as DNS and NFS on an IBM RISC System/6000 system running AIX Version 4. Delegates will learn how to implement and use remote printing, static routing, DNS, NFS and automounter. Skills Gained - Understand the basic concepts of TCP/IP protocols and addressing
- Understand TCP/IP broadcasting and multicasting
- Configure TCP/IP on an IBM RISC System/6000
- Connect multiple TCP/IP networks using static and dynamic routing
- Use networking commands for remote login, remote execution and file transfer
- Set up network printing on an IBM RISC System/6000
- Understand and implement DNS and NFS
Prerequisites Delegates should have a working knowledge of the AIX environment and commands. They must be able to work with SMIT in configuring systems and be able to edit files with vi. A working knowledge of printers and print queues on AIX is a requirement, as is an understanding of file systems, directories, files and their security, the concept of mounting filesystems and a basic knowledge of general networking concepts.
