Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) 5.3: Operations

Course Overview

In this instructor-led training with hands-on exercises, students will learn to perform the day-to-day operational functions of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager. Students will learn how to create daily operations task lists and automated schedules which can be customized to maintain their companies TSM server environment, including backup of the TSM server database, recovery log, storage pools, and client data. Students will learn how to perform the required tasks of operating and maintainting a TSM system including managing storage pool volumes, preparing removal media, creating reports using Operational Reporting, and event monitoring using query commands.

Audience

This course is intended for junior administrators who will be responsible for managing the routine daily operations of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.3.

Prerequisites

• Ability to navigate through Windows applications
• Working knowledge of an Internet browser
• Basic understanding of client-server concepts
• For classes taught on a UNIX platform, students should have experience using the UNIX command line, allocating filesystem space, and connecting devices to a UNIX server
