Course Overview Every organisation manages its risks, but not always in a way that is visible, repeatable and consistently applied to support decision making. The task of managing risk is to ensure that the organisation makes cost effective use of a risk process that has a series of well defined steps. The aim is to support better decision making through a good understanding of risks and their likely impact. Management of Risk (MoR) provides new guidance of risk which can be used across an organisation. Within project and programme environments there will always be risks which need to be identified, analysed and managed. Other areas of an organisation at both strategic and operational levels will also be exposed to risks as operational and strategic functions are carried out. This four day accredited course will provide participants with a solid grounding in MoR - Guidance for Practitioners. The elements of the course focus on the key areas of the guidance to help organisations to put in place effective frameworks for taking informed decisions about risk. It provides a route map for risk management, bringing together recommended approaches and checklists, and pointers to more detailed sources of advice on tools and techniques. The guidance expands on the OGC (Office of Government Commerce) Guidelines for Managing Risk. Presented by skilled lecturers with extensive experience in the MoR guidance, the course includes examination coaching and practice using sample questions based around a given case study. In addition, the course offers a practical means to professional accreditation. All delegates will sit the MoR Foundation examination (a 'closed book', multiple choice paper) on the fourth day of the course. Those wishing to proceed to the Practitioner examination the following day should book on the Management of Risk Practitioner course (course code MORP). The course is fully compliant with the MoR Guidance and is presented by Spoce, an APMG Accredited Training Organisation Course Outline This is an intensive four day course using a combination of lectures, exercises, case studies, workshops and examination preparation.Delegates work through a case study illustrating the application of MoR guidance, and participate in workshops covering the application of MoR to real situations.Delegates wishing to take and pass the MoR Foundation examination are advised that 60-90 minutes consolidation and preparation work will be required duing each evening of the course.
